A farm with history
Historically, the Schmiedgut has been an old farm, a typical scattered settlement. The old forge – in German: ‘Schmiede’ – probably gave the farm its name. We have lovingly restored the old buildings and this forge. Today, the fire of the old forge grills the Ausseer char in the workshop. This room is also used as a ceramics workshop. Vegetables, berries and fruit are available on the farm as they always have been – but the variety is new: we have turned it into edible nature. So there is always something to do at the Schmiedgut.

Reinterpreted
Johann Hofer renovated the main chalet in 1788 and engraved this on the old beam in the kitchen – we have preserved everything around this beam and rebuilt it in a contemporary style. In this historic farmchalet, two spacious apartments, »Dirndlpracht« und »Platzhirsch«, invite you to relax. Despite the high technical standards that we value today, the flair of rural living has been retained. Tiled stoves, original wooden walls and the typical Aussee verandas meet luxurious living comfort.
So the old farmers already knew
where to build their farm.
We have also renovated or rebuilt the old barn, that invites you to marvel in awe in the so called »Narzissenbett«. From the cozy couch there is a breathtaking view of all the surrounding mountains in every direction.
Two new chalets were built in the middle of the old orchard – »Wald & Wiese« as well as »Zirbenwipfel« – which offer a magnificent view through large glass windows. Here, the finest modern architecture with its generosity meets Aussee architectural style.
